A Ernest Hild

A. Ernest Hild, 80, of Conneaut Lake, died Friday, September 26, 1997 at Meadville Medical Center following a short illness.

He was born July 10, 1917 in Monaca, a son of the late Henry and Lina (Mehlhorn) Hild.  He married Marguerite Grosshans, December 31, 1939.  She survives.

Mr. Hild was a 1935 graduate of Monaca High School.  He opened Hank's Frozen Custard in 1952 and was owner and operator for 28 years until his retirement in 1980.  He was a man of many trades, most notably he was self taught in refrigeration.  He was a 45 year member of Meadville Elk Lodge 219.  He was a member of Crawford Masonic Lodge 234, Meadville, Crawford County Zem Zem Shrine Club, Zem Zem Shrine Temple, Erie, and New Castle Consistory.

He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Peggy Gilliland of Meadville and Judy Kennel (Galen) of Port Allegheny; one son, Rick Hild (Linda) of Meadville; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Henry Hild of North Granby, CT and A. Ray Hild of Santa Ana, CA; and two sisters, Lina Murray of Rochester, PA and Elsa McComas of San Antonio, TX.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
