A. Ronald Miller

A. Ronald Miller, 76, of Meadville, died Sunday, November 14, 2010 at his residence following a sudden illness.

He was born in Detroit, MI June 17, 1934, a son of Albert and Marjorie Miller.  He married Norma Miller July 15, 1961.

Ron was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving from 1954 to 1956 and was a 1960 graduate of Michigan State University with a bachelor's degree in hotel and restaurant management.  He worked in food service for 50 years and was owner and operator of J & J Food Service, Inc. for 25 years.  He was formerly active with various food service organizations.

Ron was a member of First Presbyterian Church and was a Stephens Minister.  He was a member of the Meadville Medical Center Board of Incorporators, former member of the Meadville Country Club and was formerly active with the Meadville Western Crawford County Chamber of Commerce.  He enjoyed playing tennis and golf and traveling.

Survivors, in addition to his loving wife Norma of 49 years, include a son, Jeffrey R. Miller and his wife Linda of Meadville; a daughter, Karen Zaphyr and her husband John of Cranberry Township; 4 grandchildren, Sarah and Mike Miller and C.J. and Hunter Zaphyr; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Andrew S. (Andy) Miller and a sister, Delores Ponka.

Calling hours will be Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.

The funeral service will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 890 Liberty St., Meadville with the Rev. Dr. Brian Jensen, Pastor officiating and assisted by the Rev. David Fugate.

Interment will be in Greendale Cemetery will military honors provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2006, Meadville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 890 Liberty St., Meadville, PA 16335 or to a charity of the donor's choice.
