Agnes U. Cagle

Agnes U. Cagle, 84, of 31 N. Park Ave. died Thursday October 26, 2006, at Meadville Medical Center.

She was born in Sharon, PA February 16, 1922, a daughter of the late Arthur Walther and Sylvia Mae Saul Stem.  She married Thomas Brown Cagle Feb. 14, 1942 and he preceded her in death May 31, 1974.

Agnes was a 1940 graduate of Sharon High School and attended Business School in Sharon.  She was first employed during World War II as an office secretary at Westinghouse in Sharon.  After raising her family, she then worked as a secretary for the Executive Director of the Meadville Area Chamber of Commerce, later as a secretary/bookkeeper at Jim Taylor Motors, and retired in 1994 as a secretary in the Music Department at Allegheny College.

She attended the Meadville Alliance Church and was a former member of the Meadville Business and Professional Women’s Club.

Survivors include 2 daughters, Kathy Thayer and her husband David, and Sharon (Dee Dee) Hayek and her husband Russ all of Meadville, and 1 son Thomas A. Cagle and his wife Debbie of Saegertown, 7 grandchildren, Julie Makepeace, Michael Thayer, Brian Cagle, Jeffrey Cagle, Alicia Cagle, Jennifer Hayek, and Christopher Hayek, 6 great grandchildren, Andrew, Ryan, Joshua, and Justin Makepeace, Alexandria Thayer, and Riley Hayek.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, and one brother, Fred Saul Stem.

Calling hours will be Sunday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.

The funeral service will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Jeff Conley, pastor of the Meadville Alliance Church, officiating.

Burial will be in Greendale Cemetery.
