Albert J. Sisco, 88, of 16900 Staff Ave., Cochranton, died Thursday, July 28, 2011 at his residence following a period of declining health.
He was born March 18, 1923 in Ruffsdale, a son of Elmer J. and Katherine Stahle Sisco. He married Elma Allison November 4, 1949.
Albert attended Connelly Trade School, Pittsburgh and was a Veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946. He served aboard the USS Phoenix in the Pacific Theater of Operations. He worked for the American Viscose, American Breakshoe and subsequently retired from Layne-New York Company.
Albert was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and member of Saegertown American Legion Post 205. He enjoyed bowling, including many years at East Side Lanes, Conneaut Lake and in the Thursday men's league at Plaza Lanes and he especially enjoyed time spent with his family and neighbors.
Survivors, in addition to his loving wife Elma of 61 years, include a daughter, Penny Sanzari and her husband David of Cochranton; a brother, Alfred Sisco of Cochranton; two grandchildren, Evan and Kelly Sanzari; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Elmer Charles Sisco.
Calling hours are today (Friday) from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville and Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 649 Park Ave., Meadville. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church with the Rev. Benjamin Travis, Pastor officiating.
Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2006, Meadville.
