Albert Spencer

March 5, 1908 — August 20, 2000

Albert Spencer, 92, of Meadville, died at home Sunday, August 20, 2000.

He was born in Meadville, March 5, 1908, a son of Delbert and Mae Knapp Spencer.  He married Sophia Duerr December 30, 1934 and she survives.

He was a member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local #47 of Western PA, and had worked in the construction industry for 39 years.

He was a member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ, Masonic Lodge #408, Solomon Royal Arch Chapter #191, Timothy Alden Council #60 and Northwestern Commandry #25 Knights Templar, all of Meadville, the Zem Zem Shrine Temple of Erie and the Crawford County Shrine Club.  He had received the honorary recognition as a 33rd Degree Mason.

Survivors, in addition to his wife of 65 years, include two daughters, Marguerite L. Spencer of Davis, CA and Dorothy K. Betts (William) of Meadville; two sons, A. Lawrence Spencer (Layne) of Meadville and William A. Spencer (Angelita) of Houston, TX; nine grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Della Foster of San Diego and Nellie Hopf of Bearfoot Bay, FL.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Florence Baldwin, Clara Cornell and Eva Miller and two brothers, Roy and Nathan Spencer.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
