Alberta C. “Bert” Elder, Cochranton, Pa, passed away Sunday, February 23, 2025 at St. Paul’s after a brief illness. She was 94.
Born November 1, 1930 in Westview, Allegheny County, Pa to Alfred F. and Barbara E. (West) Schuman.
Bert attended school in Westview, and her family moved to Coolspring Twp. And she then graduated from the Old Stoneboro High School in 1948.
She was an active member for over fifty years of the Jerusalem United Church of Christ, Otter Creek Twp.
Bert married her love Howard W. Elder on Nov. 6, 1948 and he preceded her in death May 19, 2006.
Together they had a dairy farm in Perry Township for many years where she was a homemaker and loved taking care of her husband and her four boys. She loved kids and always enjoyed having them around. She babysat several over the years including three sisters that were special to her.
She enjoyed flowers and gardening and visiting with friends. She loved to send cards for many occasions and she was an avid reader forever.
She had been a member of Order of the Eastern Star, Greenville Chapter.
She is survived by three sons: Paul W. (Kathy) Elder, Dale H. (Debra) Elder and Mark S. (Nancy) Elder along with three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.
Her parents, husband, a son Kevin E. Elder and a brother Francis E. Schuman preceded her in death.
Calling Hours: 3 to 6 pm, Wednesday, (2-26-25) in Rose & Black Funeral Home, 99 Franklin St. Stoneboro, Pa.
Funeral Service: 6:00 PM, Wednesday (2-26-25) in the funeral home with Pastor Michael Holley, of Clarks Mills Community Church, officiating.
Interment: Hadley Cemetery, Perry Township
