Mrs. Alda Mabus, 77, wife of Earl H. Mabus, of Meadville, died Monday, January 15, 1968, at Spencer Hospital, where she had been a patient for the past three weeks. She had been ill for the past seven years.
She was born in Wayne Township, February 27, 1890, a daughter of Charles and Fora Thompson Messerall. She married Earl H. Mabus on December 22, 1962.
Mrs. Mabus taught first and second grades in Meadville Area Schools before her retirement. She then sold encyclopedias; did census work and private tutoring.
She was a graduate of Cochranton High School, attended Edinboro College and was a member of the National Retired Teachers Assn. and St. Paul's United Church of Christ.
Surviving are her husband; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Harold (Helen) Spring of Titusville; a stepson, Louis O. Mabus; three step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Kiser Hill Cemetery.
