Aleta Zuck, 88, a former Erie resident and a resident of Wesbury United Methodist Community, Meadville since January 1999, died there Saturday Dec. 9, 2006 following a one-week illness.
She was born in Conneautville Nov. 9, 1918, a daughter of the Rev. Dr. Wilbur J. and Agnes Wygant Baldwin. She married Clark F. Zuck Dec. 21, 1939.
Aleta was a 1936 graduate of Meadville High School, and had assisted her husband in their turkey and greenhouse businesses in Erie for many years and also operated Zuck’s Townhouse for 7 years.
She was active in the United Methodist Church for many years and more recently has been affiliated with the Religious Society of Friends of Pittsburgh.
In Erie, Aleta had been a member of the Board of Directors of the Florence Crittendon Home, the Community Shelter Services, the League of Women Voters, and the Edmund Thomas Detention Center. She had also been a volunteer with the Regional Cancer Center for 10 years and had been a member of the Erie Symphonic Singers under Obed Grender and later Jean Verdecchia.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include 2 sons, Martin Zuck and his wife Joyce, Fairview and Todd Zuck and his wife Tamara, Fairview; 2 daughters, Sally McBain and her husband Kenneth, Madoc, Ontario and Christine Jacobson, Fredonia, NY; 9 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and also nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Ethel Polliard, Margaret Laughlin, and Esther Steele and 2 brothers, Morris Baldwin and the Rev. Clarence Baldwin.
A visitation and memorial service will be held next spring at a time and date to be announced.
Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Fairview.
