Aletha G. Riehm, 83, of Meadville, died Saturday, April 3, 2004 at Baptist Hospital West, Knoxville, Tenn. following a period of declining health.
She was born March 11, 1921 in Warren, OH, a daughter of the late Charles and Hazel Rickard Groff. She married Richard B. Riehm May 18, 1947 and he preceded her in death March 28, 1999.
She was a 1939 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School, Warren, OH. She worked as a buyer for Halle Brothers, Cleveland for several years, J.C. Penney Co., Warren, OH for 5 years, and for Wolff’s of Meadville for several years. She was a volunteer at the Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community gift shop, a member of the Meadville Women’s Club, and a member and former board member of the Meadville YWCA.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and it’s Hope Circle.
Survivors include a son, William Riehm and his wife Marion of Knoxville, Tenn.; a daughter, Rebecca Riehm and her husband Gobind Khalsa of Pulaski, NY; 3 stepsons, Jack Riehm and his wife Susan of Mantua, OH; Richard Riehm and his wife Patty of Naples, FL; and Tom Riehm and his wife Ellen of Rocky River, OH; 3 grandchildren; 12 step-grandchildren; and 8 step-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a stepson, Robert Riehm.
Calling hours will be Friday from 11:00 to 11:30 a.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville. A memorial service will follow at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. David Fugate, Associate Pastor of First Presbyterian Church officiating.
Burial will be in Fairmont Cemetery, Tiffin, OH.
