Alexander J. Mclellan

Alexander J. “Sonny” McLellan, 68, of Townville, died Friday, March 28, 2008 at Select Specialty Hospital, Erie.

He was born in Freedom June 11, 1939, a son of the late Alex and Angeline DeFazio McLellan.  He married the former Christine Pizcueta May 29, 1993.

He was a 30-year veteran of the Pittsburgh Police Department including over 25 years as a canine officer and was a member of the Pittsburgh Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #1.  He also taught the DARE program in the Pittsburgh City Schools.

Sonny was a member and past master of the Dallas Masonic Lodge 231, Pittsburgh and was a member of the Syria Shrine Temple, Pittsburgh.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and making model trains.

He was a member of St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church.

Survivors, in addition to his beloved wife Christina of 14 years, include 5 children, Sheri Reddick and her husband Bob of Allison Park; Thomas J. McLellan and his wife Louise of East Lyme, CT; Alex Keith McLellan and his wife Bianca of Pittsburgh; Jacqueline Arborgast and her husband Jason of Pittsburgh; and Daniel McLellan of Pittsburgh; a stepson, Edward J. Cerminara and his wife Melanie of Pittsburgh; a brother, James D. McLellan of Erie; 7 grandchildren, Carly, Matthew, Rochelle, Michael, Alex, Nadia, and Tia; and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a stepson, Mark James Cerminara; a brother, William McLellan; and a sister, Mary McLellan.

Calling hours will be Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville with a Vigil service at 3:45 p.m. and a Masonic service at 6:45 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Brigid Church, 383 Arch St., Meadville with Fr. Rocco Tito as Celebrant.

Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Pittsburgh.
