Alice B. Blair

June 3, 1875 — January 12, 1946

Mrs. Alice B. Blair of Meadville, long active in the Meadville Community and a former public school teacher in Spartansburg and Springboro, died at Meadville City Hospital Saturday, January 12, 1946, following an illness of several months.  She was the wife of P.D. Blair, former superintendent of Crawford County Schools.

Well-known through various clubs memberships and for readings she frequently gave for local groups, Mrs. Blair was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the church's Isabelle Brawley Misssionary Society, and was formerly superintendent of the primary department of the church school.

She was also a member of the Rota Literary Club, a charter member of the Meadville Womans Club, a past-president of the Womans Literary Club and formerly was active in the Eastern Star.  She was much interested in and gave her support to the extension of library work.

Born at Spartansburg, Mrs. Blair spent her early life there and was graduated from Spartansburg High School.  Later she attended Allegheny College and the Emerson College of Oratory in Boston.

Surviving, besides her husband, are a daughter, Mrs. A Wesley John of Buffalo; a son, Paul D. Blair of Youngstown, OH; two grandchildren, Carolyn and Phillip Blair; a sister, Miss Elva A. Farley of Meadville; and a brother, Wilbur C. Farley of Linesville.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Spartansburg Cemetery.
