Alice B. Reed

Alice B. Reed, 83 of 700 Chestnut Street, Meadville died Sunday, February 15, 2004 at Wesbury United Methodist Community.

She was born in Meadville September 8, 1920 a daughter of John and Evelyn Richardson Braymer.  She married Ray Reed September 12, 1942 and he survives.

She performed clerical and payroll work for 17 years at American Viscose Corp. and subsequently was the “TV Lady” at Meadville City Hospital and also worked in the cafeteria at Crawford Central Schools and ultimately retired from C & J Industries.

She was a 1940 graduate of Meadville High School, a 50+ member of the First Presbyterian Church, a 50+ member of Order of Eastern Star and a member of the Order of the Amaranth.  She also enjoyed sewing, crocheting, gardening and baking.

Survivors, in addition to her husband of 61 years, include a daughter, Marlene Descoteaux and her husband J.P. of Meadville; a sister, Harriet Davis of Meadville; a brother, Harold Braymer and his wife Ruth of Meadville; two-step grandchildren, John and Jim Descoteaux, four step great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by two brothers, Theodore and Arthur Braymer and one sister, Florence Braymer.

Calling hours will be Wednesday from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville

The Order of Eastern Star service will follow at 11:30 with the funeral and committal service beginning at 11:40 with Rev. Dr. Brian K. Jensen, Pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

The family suggests memorials be made to Wesbury United Methodist Community, Alzheimer’s Unit, 31 N. Park Avenue, Meadville, PA 16335.
