Mrs. Alice Burch, who observed her 100th birthday last Friday, died at the Mead Nursing Home Monday, April 15, 1974. Mrs. Burch who had been in failing health for a number of years, had resided at the nursing home since August 28, 1969.
She was a daughter of the late David and Nancy Swift Muckinhoupt and was born in Woodcock Township. A graduate of Meadville Commercial College, she formerly worked at the William S. Trowbirdge Confectionary Store located on Chestnut Street across from the Academy Theater. She was the widow of Carl H. Burch. She and her husband bought the Trowbridge Confectionary Store around 1900 and operated it as Burch's Confectionary Store. Mrs. Burch was a charter member of Meadville Country Club, a charter member of Mead Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, affiliated with Trinity Shrine, Order of the White Shrine of Jersusalem and of First Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include a niece, Mrs. Gertrude Minium; two nephews, Harry B. Muckinhoupt and Dr. Frederick H. Muckinhoupt; and several grandnieces and grandnephews.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Venango Cemetery.
