Alice E. Kurt

December 7, 1912 — February 9, 2002

Alice E. Kurt, 89, of Conneaut Lake, died Saturday, February 9, 2002 at Meadville Medical Center following a brief illness.

She was born December 7, 1912 in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Oliver and Nettie Schuemaker Foden.  She married Clarence F. Kurt in 1934 and he preceded her in death November 6, 1986.

She was a graduate of Etna High School, Etna, PA.  She and her husband owned and operated Kurt Marine Sales, Conneaut Lake.  She also worked for many years for Dr. James Martin in Conneaut Lake and helped operate the Just Sleep Motel, Conneaut Lake.

She was a member of Our Lady Queen of the Americas Roman Catholic Church, its Altar Rosary Society, morning church group, and was a CCD teacher.  She was a member of Mary's Angels, the Corsillo Group and the Samaritans of Conneaut Lake.  She enjoyed crocheting and crossword puzzles.

Survivors include two sons, Paul Kurt (Frannie) of Gastonia, NC and Roy Kurt (Jane) of Conneaut Lake; four grandchildren, Jill Williams, Jeffrey Kurt, Deborah Monnie and Kimberly O'Toole; three great-granddaughters; one great-grandson and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Foden and a sister, Dorothy Heusey.

Services were held at Waid-Coleman Funeral Home.

Interment was in Our Lady Queen of the Americas Cemetery.
