Alice H. Amos, 81, a resident of Hillside Home for seven years and Wesbury since July 2000 died Thursday, February 22, 2001 following a period of declining health.
She was born in Meadville, April 21, 1919 a daughter of Chester and Edna Smith Hitchcock. She married Ernest Amos April 12, 1947 and he preceded her in death August 15, 1972.
She worked as a waitress and a volunteer at the Meadville Medical Center Coffee Shop for 30 years and previously had worked for several years at Talon during World War II. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, VFW Post 2006 Auxiliary and the Zipperette Cottiette Club #323. She was also Past State President of the Zipperette Cottiette Club. She especially enjoyed her family and friends.
Survivors, include two sons, Ronald C. Amos of Meadville and Joseph W. Amos of Norfolk, VA; a daughter, Sue Ann Amos of Charlottesville, VA; two sisters, Helen Zirkle of Meadville and Dora Kahler of Cochranton; two brothers, Robert Hitchcock of Erie and Donald Hitchcock of California; three grandchildren, Alex Amos, Nicholas Amos and Natasha Haas. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Cindy Lee Amos; a sister, Mildred Peterson and three brothers, Harold Hitchcock, Charles Hitchcock and Earl Hitchcock.
Services were held at Robert W. Waid Funeral Home with Rev. Brian Moran, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, officiating.
Interment was in Cochranton Cemetery.
