Alice J. Stowell

Alice J. Stowell, 88, of Jupiter, FL, died Friday, August 8, 2008 at her residence.

She was born in Meadville June 1, 1920, a daughter of the late Charles and Nellie Hibbard Crouch.  She married David Stowell June 19, 1944 and he preceded her in death in 1978.  She subsequently married Donald Stowell in 1981 and he preceded her in death in 2005.

Alice received her educational certificate from the Baptist Bible Seminary, Johnson City, NY and her Bachelor of Arts degree in Religious Education from Piedmont Bible College, Winston-Salem, NC.  She worked as a Baptist missionary with her husband David in Brazil for many years.  She was a member of the Baptist Mid-Missions Board while serving in Brazil.  She loved being in the company of friends and family, gardening, and most of all, serving the Lord.

Survivors include 4 children, David Stowell and his wife Linda of Prospect; Joanna Bernhardt and her husband Robert of Jupiter, FL; Patricia Sharp and her husband John of Manaus, Brazil; and Daniel Stowell and his wife Kathie of Fortaleza, Brazil; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers, Walter Crouch of Erie; Leland Crouch and his wife Bessie of Buena Park, CA; and Delos Crouch and his wife Hoa of San Pedro, CA; and nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by 4 brothers, William, Floyd, Robert, and Orson Crouch.

Calling hour will be Wednesday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville where a funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Douglas Messerall, Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church officiating.

Interment will be in Greendale Cemetery.
