Alice V. Ackert

November 25, 1903 — January 14, 1969

Miss Alice V. Ackert, 550 Lord St., a veteran Meadville librarian, died Tuesday, January 14, 1969, at Spencer Hospital where she had been a patient since Friday.

Miss Ackert started her library career as a page at Meadville Public Library while a junior at Meadville High School.

She was named librarian in 1950 when Miss Helen Dermott retired at the library.

Miss Ackert was a member of First Presbyterian Church and Crawford County Historical Society.

Surviving are four sisters, Mrs. Rolf (Elizabeth) Asmussen, Edinboro; Mrs. Harold (Marjorie) Fenton, Meadville; Mrs. Ralph E. (Florence) Shaw, Torrance, CA; and two brothers, Richard D., RD 4, Meadville; and Charles A., Denville, NJ.

Services under direction of the Waid Funeral Home, are incomplete.  The family requests donations be made to the Meadville Public Library Memorial Fund.
