Almer R. Teed, 83, formerly of Black Ash, PA and a resident of Wesbury United Methodist Community, died Friday, January 17, 2003 at the Meadville Medical Center.
He was born in Black Ash, Randolph Twp., Crawford Co., June 4, 1919, a son of Oakley & Iva Higby Teed. He married Elva Lucille Weaver November 26, 1938 and she preceded him in death June 24, 1997.
He retired as a heavy equipment operator for Kebert Construction Co. after 39 years of service.
He attended Townville High School, was a member of Meadville Eagles Arie #429, life member of Meadville Elks Lodge #219, member of West Mead #2 Vol. Fire Dept., and enjoyed golfing and fishing.
He was a member of Mt. Hope United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a son Joseph Teed and his wife Grace, and a daughter Judy Johnston and her husband Walter both of Meadville, a foster daughter Daphne Mailliard and her husband Terry of Guys Mills, 2 brothers, H. S. Teed and his wife Ann, Reuben Teed and his wife Florence, and a half brother, Bud Bennett all of Erie, a half-sister, Mary Evelyn Simonian of Fairview, and 6 grandchildren, Daniel and Diana Teed, Denise Winsor, Kimberly and David Johnston, and Darlene Deemer.
He was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Shirley Thornton, and Ena Smith, and a half sister Evelyn, and 2 brothers, Nevin and Lee Teed.
Calling hours will be Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc. 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.
A funeral service will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Don Russell, pastor of Mount Hope United Methodist Church, officiating.
Burial will be in Black Ash Cemetery, Randolph Twp.
Meadville Elks Lodge will hold services at the funeral home Sunday at 7:00 p.m.
