Althea M. Burns

Aletha M. Burns, 95, of Meadville, died Wednesday, November 29, 1995 at Crawford County Care Center following a brief illness.

She was born January 7, 1900 in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late John and Ada (Peterman) Emmel.  She married Kenneth G. Burns on April 14, 1921.  He preceded her in death on September 6, 1988.

Mrs. Burns was a homemaker and at one time worked at Spirella Corset Co. and Shartle's Stationary Store.  She was a member of United Presbyterian Church of the Redeemer since 1913.  She was a member of Woodcock Ladies and volunteer with American Cancer Society making cancer dressings.

Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. John (Dorothy) Telliho of Meadville, Mrs. Wayne (Jesse) Stainbrook of Meadville, Mrs. Robert (Donna) Dillaman of Conneautville and Mrs. Edwin (Patricia) Orris of Waterford; two sons, K. Gerald Burns of Meadville and John A. Burns of Saegertown; one sister, Myrtle Krueger of Meadville; one brother, Rev. Edwin Emmel of Meadville; twenty-seven grandchildren; fifty-one great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and also nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Gene Perry; one brother, William Emmel; one sister, Jessie Krueger; and three grandchildren.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
