Alton Gledson Stevens

December 25, 1919 — March 7, 2003

Alton Gledson Stevens, 83, of Linesville, died Friday, March 7, 2003 at Meadville Medical Center following a short illness.

He was born December 25, 1919 in Linesville, a son of the late David Gledson and Irene Amanda Palmatier Stevens.

He attended Linesville High School and retired from Meadville Malleable where worked in the casting department for 20 years.  He was a farmer most of his life who was a kind, generous, and honest hard worker, always doing the little extra things.  He was a loving brother and uncle.

He was a founding member of Calvary Baptist Church, Linesville.

Survivors include a twin sister, Alice Beers of Linesville; 2 nephews, Elwyn Tompkins of Florida and Alton Stanford of Danville; 4 nieces, Irene Lauderman of Linesville; Alice Neu of Cleveland, OH; Jessie Stark of Wellsville, NY; and Norma Jean Fritz of Danville; and a great-niece, Debbie Jones with whom he lived and raised of Linesville.  He was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Alma Deezik and Helen Moran; and 3 nieces, Wilda Tompkins Calhoun, Shirley Beers, and Bonnie Flint; and a nephew, Paul Gordon.

Calling hours will be Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, Center Rd., Linesville where a funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. William T. Wright officiating.

Burial will be in Linesville Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Harold W. Coleman, Jr. Funeral Home, 6028 U.S. Highway 6, Linesville.
