Alva J. Hosick, Jr., 35, of Meadville, died Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at his residence following an unexpected illness.
He was born May 24, 1975 in Meadville, a son of Alva J. and Elizabeth Hosick, Sr.
Alva was a 1993 graduate of Meadville Area Senior High and attended the Crawford County Vocational-Technical School in the Culinary Arts program. He was employed as a cook at Meadville Medical Center for 15 years and also worked at the Dollar Store and the Salvation Army. He previously worked at Pizza Joes in Meadville and at the Sunoco Station, Vernon Township.
Alva enjoyed Civil War history, participated in various youth sports in his younger years, and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He never ceased to amaze his mother with his abilities and will be sadly missed. Anyone who knew him would love him.
Survivors include his mother, Elizabeth Hosick of Meadville; his former wife, Ginger Reinhart of Conneautville; his fiancée, Tama Kascar of Meadville; and aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, his paternal grandmother, Connie Hosick and his maternal grandmother, Bessie Kiddle.
Calling hours will be Friday from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday from 10-11 a.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.
The funeral service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Greenfield Cemetery (Porters Corners).
