Alvin J. (Chick) Degrange

June 28, 1908 — May 16, 1994

Alvin J. (Chick) DeGrange, 85, vice president of First National Bank for 33 years, was a World War II veteran.

He was also a former city tennis champion and an avid sportsman who loved to hunt, fish, golf and play tennis.

He graduated from Allegheny College in 1932, where he was a member of Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity.  He was a member of the Charles Stafford American Legion Post No. 111 and was active in community affairs.  He was secretary/treasurer for Meadville Area Boys Baseball for 25 years.

He was a member of the Meadville Unitarian Church.

He retired from First National Bank in 1973.  He also taught at Saegertown for six years.

Mr. DeGrange died Friday, May 13, 1994, at Rolling Fields Nursing Home, Conneautville, after a long illness.  He was formerly of Meadville.

He was born in Coraopolis, June 28, 1908, a son of Henry and Lena Kuhn DeGrange.

He married Florence Kessler, August 12, 1930.  She preceded him in death.

Survivors include one daughter, Nancy D. Wombacker of Conneaut Lake; two sons, Dr. David DeGrange of Meadville and Ronald DeGrange of Chicago; eleven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife and one grandson.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Saegertown Cemetery.
