Anastasia T. Byham, 89, formerly of Jamestown House, Meadville and a resident of Meadville Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, died there, Saturday, March 19, 2011.
She was born in Glassport, PA April 22, 1921 a daughter of Thomas F. and Mary Faix Thornton. She married Lewis R. Byham December 20, 1937 and he preceded her in death October 22, 1997.
She was a field representative with the Meadville office of the American Cancer Society for 20 years retiring in 1976. She was a 1938 graduate of Randolph High School, a member and Past Matron of the Golden Crown Chapter, Order of Eastern Star and had been a member of Stone United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Jane C. Byham of Guys Mills; four grandchildren, Barbara Byham of Seattle, WA, David Byham of Cecil, PA, Richard Byham and his wife Sandy of Saegertown, Dianne McCauley and her husband Jim of Boiling Springs, SC, and three great grandchildren, Greg, Eric and Adam Byham all of Saegertown.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Thomas Allan Byham and L. Rex Byham; three brothers and five sisters.
Calling hours will be Tuesday from 3-6 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville. The funeral service will follow at 6 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Alice McClymonds, Pastor of Mt. Hope United Methodist Church, officiating.
