Andy Waid, 90, father of Crawford County Sheriff, Andy F. Waid, died Thursday, December 17, 1959, at a nursing home in Daytona Beach, FL. He had lived in Daytona Beach for the past 12 years. He had been ill two months.
A retired Titusville merchant, where he lived for 34 years, he was a noted antique collector. His gun collection is reported to have been one of the finest known. It once was estimated to be worth $25,000.
Waid operated a cigar store and billiard parlor in Titusville. He was born May 5, 1869, in Sandy Lake, a son of Edward and Susan Booker Waid. He was married to the late Nannie Catherine McCaughtry and to the former Lillian Marshall Jones, who survives. He was a member of Sandy Lake Masonic Lodge.
Besides his widow and son, he is survived by a sister, Mrs. Pearl Barnhart of Meadville and five grandchildren.
Two sons preceded him in death.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Sandy Lake.
