Anna Mae Waid Bradshaw, 83, of Meadville, died Saturday, June 14, 2014, at Wesbury United Methodist Community surrounded by loving family. Anna Mae was a devoted mother, grandmother, teacher and friend who will be greatly missed.
She was born in Meadville on August 5, 1930, a daughter of Harold Waid and Lila Adell Smith Waid. She married G. Bruce Bradshaw August 14, 1948 and he survives.
She was a 1948 graduate of Meadville High School. She went to Edinboro University when her children were attending school and graduated in 1970 with a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in elementary education with a specialty in speech and hearing therapy. She subsequently received her Masters of Education in 1974 from Edinboro University. She was a speech pathologist employed by Northwest Tri County Intermediate Unit for 16 years and retired in 1988.
Until her recent illness, she was an active member of Blooming Valley United Methodist Church and sang in the church choir. She and her husband were very involved in the renovation and additional construction at Blooming Valley UMC in 1999-2000. She was a member of Golden Crown Chapter No. 44 Order of Eastern Star and Meadville Medical Center Auxiliary.
She played the piano, enjoyed baking especially cookies and pies, her flower and vegetable gardens, picnics and anything involving family.
Survivors, in addition to her husband of 65 years, include a daughter; Christeen A. Bradshaw and her special friend, Kris Peterson of Meadville; two sons, William B. Bradshaw and his wife Vicki of Meadville and James D. Bradshaw of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; two grandsons, Curtis J. Bradshaw and his wife Nichole and Adam C. Bradshaw and his wife Meggan; seven great-grandchildren, Adia Rose Bradshaw, Lila Ann Bradshaw, Gideon Curtis Bradshaw, Isabelle Grace Bradshaw, Margaret Frances Bradshaw, Mattie Louise Bradshaw and Rosalyn Skye Bradshaw; a brother, William Waid of Meadville; a daughter-in-law, Joan Bradshaw of Florida; two step grandchildren, Tracy and Jimmy Hansen; a step great granddaughter, Alyssa Hansen and nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Calling hour will be Wednesday from 10 – 11 a.m. at the Barco Chapel of Wesbury United Methodist Community, 31 N. Park Ave, Meadville with an Eastern Star service at 11 a.m. The funeral service will follow with the Rev. Sam Marchetta, Wesbury Chaplain, officiating.
The committal service with interment to follow will be at Blooming Valley Cemetery.
