Mrs. Anna S. Hamilton, 80, well-known dairy operator and Granger, of Meadville, died Saturday at Meadville City Hospital, following an illness of two days. Mrs. Hamilton assisted her husband, the late J. Wilson Hamilton, in the retail milk business, and continued the dairy after his death 13 years ago. She retired a year ago after being in the business more than 50 years.
Mrs. Hamilton was a member of Myrtle Rebekah Lodge No. 60 more than 40 years, and its oldest past noble grand; a member of Myrtle Lodge 30 year club; Blooming Valley Cemetery Aux., Cambridge Springs Garden Club, was a charter member of the Dames of Malta, member of Rebekah Past Noble Grands Assn., and a past master of Meadville Grange. She was a Grange member for almost 50 years.
Oldest daughter of the last Mr. and Mrs. Isaac N. Van Marter, Mrs. Hamilton was born on a farm near Blooming Valley. She resided at her present farm home for 61 years. Surviving are a sister, Edna L. Van Marter of Meadville; two daughters, Velma and Leona Hamilton, at home; six nieces; five nephews and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
