Mrs. Anna Mae Davis, 81, of Meadville, formerly active in civic affairs and in musical groups, died Thursday, August 5, 1965, following a long illness.
A daughter of Richard and Anna Weitz Buzza, she was born at New Castle September 21, 1883. She was the widow of George J. Davis whom she married June 15, 1899.
Mrs. Davis was a member of Stone Methodist Church where she sang in the choir; was a past worthy high priestess of Trinity Shrine, White Shrine of Jerusalem; was elected three times as noble grand of Alethea Rebekah Lodge, IOOF; was a past officer of the Dames of Malta; a former member of the Ladies Advisory Committee of City Hospital, Meadville Woman's Club and its chorus, Mead Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star; Minerva Club of Sigma Alpha Epsilon; Amaranth; and a former member and pianist for Kiser Hill-Mead Grange. She was at one time active in local Republican women's organizations. She was an honorary first lieutenant in the local USO ambulance corps during World War II and worked in the local canteen.
She is survived by six daughters, Mrs. Anna Mullins and Mrs. William (Gloria) Lyons, both of Philadelphia, Mrs. John (Ruth) Zimmerman of Birmingham, MI, Mrs. William (Mildred) Rogers of Cinicinnati, OH, Mrs. Henry (Evva) Teitelbaum of Ventor, NJ and Mrs. Joseph (Shelia) Linz of Meadville; three sons, William P. Davis, Sr. and Malcolm, both of Meadville and Richard of Erie; two sisters, Mrs. Vincent (Dorothea) Magner of Sharon and Mrs. David (Frances) Sleppy of Meadville; a half-sister, Mrs. Nelson (Mary) Wallace of Meadville; sixteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
