Anna May Hunter, 82, of Meadville, died Tuesday, November 30, 1999 at Meadville Medical Center following a period of declining health.
She was born June 12, 1917 in Salamanca, NY, a daughter of the late Reuben H. and May Mae Chamberlain Lent. She married James F. Hunter, October 19, 1946. He preceded her in death November 16, 1995.
She was a 1935 graduate of Meadville High School. She retired in 1979 as a switchboard operator at the former Meadville City Hospital following more than 20 years of service. She previously worked as a long distance operator for the former Meadville Telephone Co. and also as a clerk at the former Jenny Dress Shop in Meadville. She enjoyed reading, crocheting and baking.
She was of Protestant faith.
Survivors include a daughter, Deborah A. Sweeney of Saegertown; three sons, James G. Hunter (Janet) of Meadville, Thomas E. Hunter of Meadville and Jeffrey E. Hunter (Berneice) of Meadville; ten grandchildren; one great-grandson; and three nieces.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Walter E., Charles H. and Albert L. Lent.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
