Mrs. Anna P. Sipe, 94, former matron on United Methodist Home from 1940 to 1946, died Tuesday, May 25, 1976, at City Hospital after a short illness.
She served as matron of United Methodist Home while her husband, the late Rev. William Sipe, served as superintendent. At that time it was known as Cribbs Home and was located in Conneautville. The couple retired from ministerial work in 1949. In 1967, they became residents of United Methodist Home and Hospital in Meadville. The Rev. Mr. Sipe died in 1968.
Born in Armstrong County, September 30, 1881, she was a daughter of Sylvester and Mary Myers King. She married the Rev. Mr. Sipe, September 16, 1903. A member of the United Methodist Church of Little Valley, NY and the church's United Methodist Women, she also was a member of Women's Christian Temperance Union.
She had lived to Springboro, Cochranton, Erie, Tylersburg, Rockland and Tionesta in Pennsylvania and Little Valley and Cataraugus, NY, while her husband served in various pastorates.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. John (Elsie) McConnell and Mrs. Albert (Gladys) Andrew of Little Valley; Mrs. Roy (Hazel) Green of Franklin; three sons, Paul Sipe of Meadville, Harold Sipe of Oil City and Earl Sipe of Little Valley; a sister, Mrs. Maggie Thompson of Chicora; ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
