Anna R. Porter

Mrs. Anna R. Porter, 87, a resident of the Methodist Home for the Aged, of Meadville, since September 17, 1962, died there Saturday, May 17, 1969, after an illness of five months.

She was born in Bloomfield Township, December 13, 1881, a daughter of Thomas and Samantha King Anderson.  She married Burchard H. Porter December 31, 1907.  He died in 1939.

Mrs. Porter attended Edinboro Normal School and taught in Crawford County for several years in her early life.  She was a member of Wilkins United Methodist Church, Bloomfield Township, and was superintendent of its Sunday School for 20 years.  Mrs. Porter was a member of Union City chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and of Bloomfield Grange.

Surviving are four sons, the Rev. William H. Porter of Cambridge Springs, R B Porter of Terre Haute, IN, Oliver A. Porter of Mercer and J. Richard Porter of Pittsburgh, nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Townline Cemetery, Rockdale Township.
