AnnaBelle Dake, 89, formerly of Meadville and current resident of Mayfair Village Nursing Care Center, Columbus, OH, died there Saturday, June 6, 1998 following a period of declining health.
She was born September 19, 1908 in Meadville, a daughter of the late Charles (Sy) and Maude L. Snodgrass Allen. She married Charles Jackson Dake, Sr. November 1, 1927. He survives.
Mrs. Dake was a 1927 graduate of Meadville High School and had attended the former Edinboro State Teachers College. She worked at Woolworth Department Store of Cleveland in the late 1920s and at the predecessor company to Talon, the Hookless Fastener Co. of Meadville in the early 1930s. She was a bookkeeper at various banks and businesses in the Cleveland area and retired as a bookkeeper from the Mintz Co. of Cleveland in 1969. She was an active volunteer in the Cleveland area for many years, receiving the Geauga Co. Outstanding Senior Citizen Award in 1981. She enjoyed needlepoint, crafts and gardening. She was a strong family person. She and her husband celebrated their 70th Wedding Anniversary last year.
She was of Protestant faith.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include, two sons, Charles J. Dake, Jr. (Sally) of Emmet, ID and Michael L. Dake (Margaret) of Canal Winchester, OH; five grandchildren, Charles J. Dake, Elizabeth A. James, Michael D. Dake, Patricia E. Dake and Christopher P. Dake; and one sister, Ruth Winters of Meadville.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Wallace, Douglas and Donald Allen and three sisters, Marietta Hamilton, Pauline Dibble and Leora Cunningham.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Kiser Hill Cemetery.
