Anne A. Holder

Anne A. Holder, 95, of Conneaut Lake, PA, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 17, 2023.

Anne was born on December 22, 1927, in Pittsburgh to Paul C. and Mary Christy Augustine.  She graduated as the valedictorian of the Grove City High School class of 1945.  She furthered her education at Grove City College and graduated from Carnegie Tech (now Carnegie Mellon) in 1949.

Anne lived in Hermitage from 1950-1976 and raised her four children there.  She was a charter member and very active in the Hickory United Methodist Church.  She was a member of the Girls Buhl Club Board of Directors and several bridge clubs.

From 1976-1985, Anne lived in Conneaut Lake and Meadville.  She worked at Allegheny College and taught business at the Crawford County Vo-Tech.  She married Ron Holder in December 1978 and in 1985 they moved to Panama City Beach, FL where they owned and operated several carpet cleaning franchises.

After retirement in 1999, Anne and Ron moved to Stonecrest in Summerfield, FL, where she took up mahjongg and watercolor painting and enjoyed many cruises.  Anne took great joy in returning to her cottage at Conneaut Lake each summer.

Anne is survived by her children, Christy Hunter Hall (Derek), Mercer; Cathi Friend (Howdy), Columbiana, OH; Julie Hunter (Russ Mills), Deer Park, IL; and Ted Hunter (Sharon), Grove City.  She is also survived by ten grandchildren, Wesley and Grace Hall, Alison Thibaut, Megan and Christopher Friend, Raechel and Hannah Mills, and Eric, Steven, and Jacque Hunter, and by six great-grandchildren.

Anne was preceded in death by her second husband, Ron Holder, in 2020, her parents, her brother, Paul C. “Lee” Augustine, and her former husband, Donald Hunter.

She proved that one can live a good life to the ripe old age of 95 on a diet of popcorn, gummy candy, and red wine.

Calling hour will be Monday, February 20th from 10-11 a.m. at WAID-COLEMAN FUNERAL HOME, 12422 CONNEAUT LAKE RD., CONNEAUT LAKE with a Celebration of Anne’s life at 11:00 a.m.

Interment will be in Venango Cemetery.
