September 30, 1934 — September 14, 2021

Anne V. Furno, 86, of Meadville, passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at the Marquette Hospice House.

She was born September 30, 1934 in Geneva, PA, a daughter of Joseph E. and Hazel E. Mills Bryant.  She married John Furno in April 1954.

Anne was a 1952 graduate of Meadville High School.  In her earlier years she was employed in the office of Dr. H.P. Bauer, offices of the American Viscose, Crawford Central School District, IBM Corporation in Poughkeepsie, NY, Crawford County Juvenile Probation, and district sales for Kraft Foods in San Diego, CA.  In her later years she worked at the PA Employment office in Meadville, retiring from there in 1995 after 16 years of service.  She was then elected to three 4-year terms as the Crawford County Jury Commissioner, retiring in 2010.

Anne and her family were affiliated with Saegertown United Methodist Church for several years.  Prior to that, she was a member of St. Paul’s Reformed Church in Meadville and most recently she attended First Baptist Church in Meadville.

Anne was especially dedicated to her family, enjoying cooking and baking for them and preparing Sunday and holiday dinners.  She was an avid writer, having written numerous articles and columns for the Meadville Tribune.  She also wrote a devotional message for The Upper Room devotional magazine.  Anne enjoyed music for many years, singing with The Sweet Adelines and several church choirs.  She was an avid walker and enjoyed planting and maintaining her flowers as well as feeding the birds.  One of her favorite sayings was “A bell isn’t a bell until you ring it, a song isn’t a song until you sing it, and love isn’t love until you give it away.”

Survivors include a brother, Gary Bryant of Jacksonville, FL and nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents and former husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Douglas and James Furno and a brother, James Bryant.
