Anthony P. Lascola, Sr.

October 25, 1915 — September 13, 2002

Anthony P. LaScola, Sr., 86, formerly of Shryock Apartments, Meadville, died Friday, September 13, 2002 at the Quality Living Center, Saegertown.

He was born October 25, 1915 in Cook County, IL, a son of the late Sebastiano and Rose Viverito LaScola.  He married Edith Brucker August 26, 1935 and she preceded him in death August 1983.

He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII, serving in the Pacific Theatre of Operations.  He worked for many years as a waiter at the William Penn Hotel, Pittsburgh. He retired from the Four Ambassadors Hotel, Miami, FL in 1980.  In retirement, he enjoyed working at Hailwood Golf Course and enjoyed bowling in the Thursday Senior League.  He was a member of the Meadville Elks Lodge 219 and the Meadville VFW Post 2006.  He was an avid Meadville High School football and basketball fan.

He was a member of St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church.

Survivors include three sons, Anthony P. LaScola, Jr. and his wife Donna of Hermitage; James C. LaScola and his wife Linda of Meadville; and Thomas M. LaScola of Mechanicsville, MD; Four grandchildren, Amy Wensel, Beth Curry, Renee Steff, and Scott LaScola; and two great-grandchildren.  In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, David LaScola and 11 brothers and sisters.

Calling hours will be Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville with an Elks service at 8 p.m.

A funeral service will be Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Sharpsburg.
