April D. Doughty, 60, of Meadville, passed away Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at Meadville Medical Center from Covid-19 complications.
She was born July 27, 1960 in Elizabeth, NJ, a daughter of the late Herman and Geraldine Plaque Witscher.
April was owner and operator of First Steps Child Care, Our Little Ones Child Care, as well as a nanny. She loved her children and grandchildren, was passionate about helping children of special needs and was a mom to many. Affectionately referred as “Mama Doughty” by her children’s friends, she cared for all as though they were her own. She would get you a plate and cup on your first visit, but next visit you were on your own. There was always blue juice and leftovers in the fridge, cereal in the cupboard. Stubborn to a fault, and never wrong, she would never hesitate to help someone in need. Her many children, biological or otherwise, were her pride, joy, and life’s work. She was a member of Living Waters Church.
Survivors include five children, Brandon Doughty (Martha) of Pittsburgh, Yardley Doughty (Dan) of Meadville, Reighr Doughty (Veronica) of New York City, Treyner Doughty (Autumn) of Meadville and Alyssa Doughty of North East; four grandchildren, Rose, Marcy, Odin and Zidane; two brothers, Drew Witscher of Meadville and Jeff Witscher (Lana) of Pittsburgh; several nieces and nephews and her beloved dog Francis.
Private family services will be held at the ROBERT W. WAID FUNERAL HOME, 581 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE.
