Arden Ferguson, of Meadville, died Wednesday, August 29, 1984, at his home, following a year-long illness.
He was born at Meadville, a son of George and Lillian Shaffer. Mr. Ferguson married Gertrude Feldmiller in 1936.
Mr. Ferguson worked for 36 years as a mail carrier from the Meadville Post Office, retiring from his work there in 1968. Following his retirement, he worked for eight years in the maintenance department of Allegheny College. He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, and was a former member of the church's consistory. He also belonged to the National Assn. of Letter Carriers. He worked extensively in cabinet making and locksmithing as a hobby.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, George A. Ferguson of Meadville; his stepmother, Mrs. Nellie McCormack of Boston and three nieces. He was preceded in death by a brother and a half-sister.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Cochranton Cemetery.
