Ardis G. Hanson Klundt

September 3, 1908 — July 10, 2006

Ardis G. Hanson Klundt, 97, of 316 Edgewood Dr., Meadville passed away peacefully Monday, July 10, 2006 at Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community.

She was born in Coal Springs, SD September 3, 1908, a daughter of the late Charles and Hilma Perrson Hanson.  She subsequently lived in Bison, SD, Belle Fourche, SD, and Spearfish, SD.

Ardis graduated from Spearfish High School in 1927 and from Black Hills Teachers College, Spearfish.  She taught in a one-room elementary school for a few years.

She moved to Pasco, WA in the 1940s and married John H. Klundt, who was a wheat farmer, June 19, 1947.  He preceded her in death in 1988.

She and her husband John had a beautiful rose garden with many varieties of which they were pleased.

She was a very gentle lady but very sociable and their home was always open to everyone who knew them.

Following the death of her husband, she moved to Meadville to live with her daughter and son-in-law, LuAnne and Ralph Olson for the last 16 years.  She loved nature and enjoyed bird-watching.  She was an accomplished artist in several mediums, but was best known for her beautiful china painting, having a certificate in the International Porcelain Art Teachers, Inc.

She was a lifelong member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 132, Pasco, WA, life member of the Franklin County Historical Society, and the Archeological Society of Pasco.

Her favorite pastime was to crochet and made many afghans and other items.  She also loved to travel.

She was of the Protestant faith.

She is survived by her daughter, LuAnne Olson and her husband Ralph W. of Meadville; a sister, Carol Jane Johnson of Spearfish, SD; and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 5 brothers and sisters, Pearl Hanson, Mardie Anderson, Lester Hanson, Clarence Hanson, and Milford Hanson; 2 stepsons, Richard and Robert Klundt and a stepdaughter, Marguerite Gunderson.

Calling hours are today (Tuesday) from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.

A funeral service will be at the Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel, Spearfish, SD.

Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Spearfish.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Meadville Medical Center Foundation, 1034 Grove St., Meadville, PA 16335.
