Arnold C. Morris

Arnold C. Morris, 90, of Guys Mills, died Monday, May 4, 2009 at Meadville Medical Center.

He was born August 16, 1918 in Rome Township, Crawford County, a son of the late Will E. and Treva Henton Morris.  He married Betty Jane Kelsey August 6, 1944.

A 1936 graduate of Colestock High School, Titusville, he worked at Cyclops in Titusville as a machinist.  He also was a dairy farmer in Rome Township for many years.

Arnold was a member of Pleasantview Alliance Church where he served as an usher and Elder.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing, locally, in Canada, Texas and out west.  In retirement, Arnold and Betty Jane enjoyed many years of extensive traveling, including trips to Alaska, Hawaii, Walt Disney World, and a cruise to Mexico.  Additionally, they enjoyed camping trips to see the Pennsylvania Elk as well as to Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island.

He was a recipient of the Crawford County Hall of Fame Certificate for voting for 50 years.

Survivors, in addition to his wife Betty Jane of 64 years, include a daughter, Pamela Claussen and her husband Jack of Victoria, TX; a son, Larry Morris and his wife Janet of Erie; 3 grandchildren, Joseph Arnold Wieland, Kimber Dawn Faircloth and her husband Alan, and Kevin Larry Morris; 3 great-grandchildren, Mason and Langley Faircloth and Samantha Morris; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Opal Pier, Rachael Morris, and Thelma L. Morris and 2 brothers, Kenneth and Donald Morris.

Calling hours will be Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville and Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. at Pleasantview Alliance Church, 16233 State Hwy 86, Saegertown.  The funeral and committal service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the Church with the Rev. Joseph Pjecha, Church Pastor and the Rev. Rick Crocker, Pastor of First Alliance Church, Erie co-officiating.

Private interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Spartansburg.
