Arnold E. Harned, 78, of 206 Brookview Dr., Edinboro and formerly of Crossingville, died Thursday, October 28, 2004 at St. Vincent Health Center, Erie following a brief illness.
He was born in Edinboro July 5, 1926, a son of the late Lynn and Edna Cole Harned. He married Roberta E. McKee August 24, 1946 and she preceded him in death December 13, 1998.
He worked as a milk hauler for the Carnation Milk Co. for many years and he also drove school bus for the General McLane School District for many years.
He was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church, Edinboro.
He was a former member of the Meadville Eagles Aerie 429. He enjoyed golfing and worked part-time for his brother, Larry Harned doing contracting work.
Survivors include 2 sons, Donald E. Harned of Meadville and Gary A. Harned, Missing in Action in Vietnam since March 24, 1970; 2 daughters, Debra McBride of Cochranton and Joyce Schwab and her husband Robert of Meadville; 3 brothers, Wilbur Royce Harned and his wife Pearl of Spartansburg; Gerald Harned and his wife Gloria of Virginia; and Larry Harned and his wife Nancy of Edinboro; a sister, Delores Doucette of Kissimmee, FL; a companion and friend, Reva Baker of Edinboro; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Leslie Harned, Norman Harned and an infant brother.
Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville with a scripture prayer service at 8:30 p.m.
A funeral service will be Monday at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. John Jacquel, Pastor of Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church, officiating.
Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Meadville.
