Arthur R. Boyce, of Meadville died Friday, September 27, 2019 at Juniper Village two days shy of his 98th birthday.
He was born September 29, 1921 in Springboro, a son of Ralph and Ruby A. Wells Boyce. He married Eddy Gert Kircher November 23, 1943 and she preceded him in death May 3, 2010.
Art was a Veteran of World War II, Korea and part of the occupying force in Japan with the U.S. Army National Guard. He served over 21 years and was a commanding officer of Company B, 112th Division attaining the rank of Major.
Art worked at the American Viscose for 31 years, retiring in 1974. He attended First Baptist Church.
Survivors include five children, Bob Boyce (Patricia) of Florida, Barbara Szopa of Houston, TX, Beverly Ann Baccchus (David, son Adam) of Houston, TX, William Boyce (Jo, son Bryan and two grandchildren, daughter Holly) of Mukilteo, WA and Brian Boyce (Zach & Arthur) of Meadville; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Esther Nicolls of Springboro and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles, J. Edward and Delmar Boyce and a sister, Kathryn Hotchkiss.
Visitation will be Wednesday, October 2nd from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at the ROBERT W. WAID FUNERAL HOME, 581 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Gerald Walton, Pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Military honor will be provided by Huidekoper VFW Post #2006.
Interment will be in St. Brigid Cemetery.
