Arthur W. Bowes

July 6, 1904 — April 28, 1973

Arthur W. Bowes, of Meadville, died at Spencer Hospital Saturday, April 28, 1973, after a short illness.

Born in Youngstown on July 6, 1904, he was a son of George W. and Margeret Sayre Bowes.  He married Maude V. Peters February 28, 1937.  Mr. Bowes was an automobile salesman most of his life, first in Meadville and later in Ashtabula, OH.  He attended First Baptist Church.  He was a member of Charles N. Stafford American Legion Post, Masonic Lodge of Ashtabula, Timothy Alden Council, Soloman Royal Arch Chapter adn Northwestern Commandery, all of Meadville.

Survivors include his widow; two daughters, Mrs. James E. (Mary) Gorby of Cochranton and Mrs. Fred H. (Carol) Cornell of Meadville; his mother, Margaret of Meadville; four sisters, Mrs. Otis (Katherine) Durfee of Meadville, Mrs. Ray (Helen) Daniels of Venango, Mrs. Floyd (Grace) Shaw of Meadville and Mrs. Homer (Harriet) Johnson of Phoenix; and one granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by a brother, George, who died December 30, 1972.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
