Arvilla M. (Billie) (Myers) Lang

Arvilla M. (Billie) Lang, 101, of Guys Mills, passed away Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at Countryside Nursing Home in Mercer.

She was born April 1, 1916 in Atlantic, PA, a daughter of Paul and Grace McArthur Myers.  She married Neal W. Lang September 11, 1940 and he preceded her in death May 17, 2010.

Arvilla was a 1934 graduate of East Fallowfield High School.  A homemaker, she had also worked at F.W. Woolworth’s and at Montgomery Wards.

Arvilla was a member of Mt. Hope United Methodist Church and was a member of the Hayfield and Randolph Granges.  She enjoyed cooking, baking and going to the market.

Survivors include a son, John P. Lang and his wife Donna of Guys Mills; a daughter, Dorothy Hogdgon and her husband Alan of Mercer; six grandchildren, Wayne Thayer and his wife Kristen, Patty Spencer and her husband Dean, William Beiter, Joseph Armstrong and his wife Renee, Glenn Armstrong and his wife Maggie, and David Lang and his wife Amanda; several great-grandchildren including Bella Thayer, Emily Thayer, Michael Spencer, Madison Spencer, and William Beiter.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Edna Lang Thayer on December 20, 1985; a son, Donald Lang on August 18, 1966; and a brother, Henry Myers.

Calling hours will be Friday, September 8th from 4 to 6 p.m. at the ROBERT W. WAID FUNERAL HOME, 581 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE and Saturday, September 9th from 10 to 11 a.m. at Mt. Hope United Methodist Church, 29034 State Hwy 27, Guys Mills.  The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church with the Rev. Alice McClymonds, Pastor, officiating.

Interment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
