Auburn C. Smith

Auburn C. Smith, 93, of Meadville, died Sunday, October 20, 1996, at Crawford County Care Center, after a period of failing health.

He was born February 6, 1903, in Pocahontas County, WV, a son of the late David and Minnie Curry Smith.  He married the former Stella Woods, September 10, 1925.  She survives.

He came to Meadville to help build the American Viscose Company Plane, took a job with the company, and retired in 1968 from the Spinning Department after 38 years of service.  He was a life member of the Meadville Club, Fraternal Order of Eagles, and the West Mead #2 VFD.  He was of the Protestant Faith.

Survivors in addition to his wife, include one daughter, Elaine Smith of Erie; one son, Kenneth W. Smith of Meadville; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Nellie Giles and one brother, Walter Smith.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
