Audley C. Mays, 66, of Meadville, died Saturday, January 31, 1970, at Spencer Hospital, where he had been a patient for two weeks. He had been in ill health for about three years.
He was born at Guys Mills September 8, 1903, a son of Claude and Elizabeth Schweitzer Mays. He married the former Ruth Dinsman June 24, 1931.
Mr. Mays was a graduate of the Randolph Township schools and attended Allegheny College. He was a graduate of Olivet College, Oilvet, MI in 1929.
Mr. Mays served for a number of years as a school superintendent at Michigan Center, MI and Home, MI. In 1941, he returned to Meadville and worked in the evaluation department at the Erie-Lackawanna Railroad Co. until his retirement in 1966.
He was involved in various capacities in scouting work with the Washington Trail Council for many years.
Surviving, in addition to his widow, are two daughters, Mrs. John (Ann) McKenna of Goffstown, NH and Mrs. Giorgio (Cynthia) Nicosia of Hewitt; one son, Michael of Honolulu, HI; two sisters, Mrs. Emma Reese of Meadville and Mrs. Robert (Evelyn) Brown of Meadville; and five grandchildren. A brother, Eldred, died previously.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
