Audrey Jean Karn

Audrey Jean Karn, 72, of 19864 Hogue Rd., Meadville, died Thursday, April 26, 2007 at Meadville Medical Center following a week long illness.

She was born in Meadville September 30, 1934, the youngest daughter of the late John F. and Clara M. Miller Hogue.  She married Theodore Larson and subsequently married Richard Karn.

Upon graduation from Meadville High School, she was employed during her working career at various positions at Talon/Textron until 1994.  Following her retirement, she was busy expanding her flower beds and fish pond.  She had a real green thumb, often sharing her plants with family and friends.  While listening to country-western music she crocheted or knitted more than two hundred lap robes for area nursing home residents.  She sewed many of her own clothes, in addition to creating gift quilts for family members.  Known in her family as an exceptionally good cook, she was often able to duplicate a restaurant dish without the recipe.  She was always busy with a craft project, but she especially enjoyed taking care of her two grandchildren and shopping trips with her sister Helen.

Survivors include her only son, Don K. Larson and his wife Tracey and their two children Abigail and Reese of Saegertown; two brothers, Albert N. Hogue and his wife Barbara of Conneaut Lake and Donald Hogue and his wife Michyo of Sunnyvale, CA; two sisters, Helen M. Rodgers of Cochranton and Edna Karns of Meadville; and more than 35 nieces and nephews from a large extended family.  She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Howard, Francis, and an infant Harold Hogue; and her oldest sister, Ruth Getchell Reichel.

Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.

A funeral and committal service will be Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

Interment will be in Saegertown Cemetery.
