Audrey M. Baker

Audrey M. Baker, 81, of 743 Gasteiger Rd., Meadville, died Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at Meadville Medical Center following a period of declining health.

She was born May 16, 1926 in Buffalo, NY, a daughter of the late John J. and Treva T. Capers Kranock.  She married Roy Baker April 17, 1948 and he preceded her in death December 12, 1998.

Raised in Harmonsburg, she was a 1944 graduate of Conneautville High School.  She was a homemaker, had previously worked in the lab at the American Viscose for 4 years and was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.

Audrey and Roy enjoyed many years of golfing trips to Florida and golfing together at Oakland Beach Golf Course, Conneaut Lake.  She was proud of once shooting a hole-in-one and was a member of the Ladies league at Oakland Beach.  Additionally, she was a member of the “500 card club”, enjoyed doing table puzzles, sewing, and was an avid reader and active user of the Meadville Public Library.

Survivors include two sons, Gary L. Baker and his wife Donna and Don G. Baker, all of Meadville; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Richard and Helen Shaffer of Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Dennis C. Baker and 3 sisters, Alyce Calta, Dorothy Byers, and Helen Smith.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family with interment at Greendale Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Meadville Public Library, 848 N. Main St., Meadville, PA 16335.
