Austin Millard Clark, 89, of Meadville, went to be with The Lord on Friday, August 5, 2016 at the Marquette Hospice House with his loving nephew, Gregory Allen by his side.
He was born January 4, 1927 in Meadville, a son of Millard E. and Edna Shaffer Clark. He married Betty Jane Allen, his beloved wife, September 27, 1947. They spent many years together traveling and enjoying each other’s company. She preceded him in death October 31, 2007.
Austin was a 1945 graduate of Meadville High School. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946 in the Pacific Theater of Operations.
Austin was a tool and die maker having worked at Talon, Crawford Manufacturing Co., and Leech Tool & Die Co. Following retirement, he worked at Pennco Tool & Die Co. for several years.
He was a member of Park Congregational Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2006 Meadville, and the Hayfield Grange. Austin enjoyed visiting with his tool maker buddies and traveling in his RV.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews including Gregory Allen and his wife Brenda of Meadville and several great-nieces and great-nephews including Zack Allen of Meadville.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers, F. Wray, Clyde, and Myron Clark; four sisters, Esther Hill of Saegertown, Marian Humes of Meadville, Mildred Myers, and Edna Hucklebury; and his dog Marta, his loving and constant companion.
Calling hour will be Saturday, August 20th from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the ROBERT W. WAID FUNERAL HOME, 581 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE where the memorial service will follow at 12:00 p.m. with the Rev. Gerry Brown, Pastor of Park Congregational Church, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Crawford County, 464 Pine St., Meadville, PA 16335 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
