B. Lois Sargent, 83, of 10275 Kennedy Hill Road, Meadville, died unexpectedly Saturday, September 28, 2002 at the Meadville Medical Center.
She was born in Cochranton, March 17, 1919 a daughter of Earl and Jennie Hart Chaney. She married Charles R. Sargent October 31, 1957 and he survives.
She was a 1937 graduate of Cochranton High School and a 1941 graduate of Spencer Hospital School of Nursing. She was a veteran of World War II serving as a nurse with the 359th Organization Hospital. She worked as a nurse at Hamot Hospital in Erie and at San Rosario Nursing Home in Cambridge Spring. She retired as an industrial nurse from Talon in Meadville. She was a member of Stone United Methodist Church.
Survivors in addition to her husband of 44 years, include: a daughter, Nancy Lou DeArment and her husband Richard of Fairview, PA; a son, Charles R. Sargent, Jr. and his wife Yvonne of Albion; two sisters, Mildred Chaney of Cochranton and Hildred Rodebaugh of Cochranton; five grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by a grandson.
Calling hours will be Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. William L. Brown, Visitation Pastor of Stone United Methodist Church, officiating.
Burial will be in Greendale Cemetery.
The family suggests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, 464 Pine Street, Meadville or the Visiting Nurses Assoc., 747 Terrace Street, Meadville, PA 16335.
