Barbara E. Stearns

Barbara E. Beuchat Stearn, 69, of Meadville, died Friday, April 27, 2012 at her residence surrounded by her loving family following a brief illness. She was born January 22, 1943 in Meadville, a daughter of Russell E. and Helen C. Proper Beuchat. Barbara was a 1961 graduate of Randolph High School and a 1988 graduate of Edinboro University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. She worked for 15 years as a family counselor, retiring in 2004. Barbara was affiliated with the Titusville Free Methodist Church. She enjoyed reading, playing cards, her cats, socializing with neighbors, and helping transport the Amish. Survivors include a daughter, Denise Rice of Meadville; a son, Matthew Stearn of Lakewood, OH; two sisters, Ruth Ann Beuchat Waid and her husband Russell of Sarasota, FL and Marilyn J. Beuchat Steadman and her husband Louis of Clintonville; a brother, Russell C. Beuchat and his wife Shirley of Mansfield, OH; two grandchildren, Dustin Rice of Centerville and Megan Rice of Meadville; and six nephews and nieces, Richard Waid of Sarasota, FL, Robert Waid of Chicago, IL, Michelle McFadden of Mechanicsburg, Michael Steadman of Clintonville, Rhonnda Bentz of Cleona, and Craig Beuchat of Guys Mills. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a nephew, Charles E. Beuchat. Calling hour will be Monday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville where a memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Temple Jarrell, Pastor of New Beginnings Church of God, officiating.
