Barbara M. Pearson

Barbara M. Pearson, 89 of Blooming Valley, passed away Thursday, November 12, 2015 at Meadville Medical Center.

She was born September 4, 1926 in Franklin, a daughter of Arthur George and Marguerite Young Maier.  She married David R. Pearson February 3, 1950 at the First Baptist Church in Franklin by Rev. Kane and David preceded her in death April 2, 2002.

Barbara graduated as salutatorian from Franklin High School in 1944.  She entered the Cadet Nurse Corp at Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh in February 1945 and graduated in February 1948 with her registered nurse’s degree.  She was employed as an RN at the former Meadville City Hospital for 22 years.

Barbara was a long-time member of Blooming Valley United Methodist Church, its United Methodist Women, served on the church advisory board, PPR member board, and was the superintendent of the cradle roll for 20 years.  She also had occasionally attended Gravel Run Presbyterian Church.

She was elected auditor of the Blooming Valley borough where she served for 46 years.  She considered it an honor to annually place flags on Veterans’ graves at Blooming Valley Cemetery and she was a Girl Scout leader in the Blooming Valley area for several years.  Barbara enjoyed watching the wildlife from her front porch including birds, squirrels and other wildlife.

Survivors include three daughters, Julia Lynn Pearson of Meadville, Cynthia P. Stainbrook and her husband Bruce of Meadville, and Jacklyn P. Knaus and her husband James of Bellingham, MA; three grandchildren, Craig Stainbrook of Erie, David Stainbrook and his wife Kristina of Erie, and Krysti Nageotte and her husband Ryan of Cambridge Springs; two great-grandchildren, Olivia Marie Stainbrook and John Pearson (J.P.) Nageotte; and two nephews, Thomas Pearson and his wife Cheryl of Youngstown, OH and David W. Pearson and his wife Wendy of Palmetto, FL.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant son in 1959.

Calling hour will be Monday from 10 to 11 a.m. at Blooming Valley United Methodist Church, 24740 State St., Meadville (Blooming Valley) where the funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Joong Wook Koe, Pastor, officiating and assisted by the Rev. Don Gordon, Pastor of Gravel Run Presbyterian Church.

Interment will be in Blooming Valley Cemetery.
